Supplements – B Complex
Oct1
This time of year, tons of people on the Northern Hemisphere start suffering from the winter blues. As I wrote in my last post, getting out in the fresh(est) air is still a good idea as you will get some oxygen but also a little bit of light which can be amazingly good for you. But there are other things that will help you get through those winter months with spirits lifted and body in great shape.
One of these supplements is Vitamin B. There is a range of different B’s in the family (B12 or Folic Acid, being the most well-known – responsible for cell division, it is/should be used by women trying to get pregnant or during their pregnancy). You will find the Vitamin B components in nuts, avocado, pulses (beans/lentils), liver, lean meats and grains.
Each B vitamin has its own distinct function – and to be honest, your personal need for each of the B’s in the whole range may be different. So you may need more B1 and less B6 then someone else – but even so, taking a B Complex supplement will help you boost your energy levels, combat tiredness and that generallly worn-out feeling better then if you take none at all.
You can play around ofcourse with the individual B’s in tablet format, varying the doses, but it’ll prove quite hard to figure out exactly what the optimum dosage is for you. So I would recommend starting with a B complex and if that works for you then great. If you use any other medication, it’s worth checking with your doctor about taking B (or any other supplements for that matter!) as it may have an impact.
B is water-soluble, so taking too much is unlikely since you will naturally get rid of it again – but to be on the safe side, never take more then the recommended dosage.

Maybe nice to know. Vitamine B makes your hair also more shiny and stronger. (I have noticed with long hair that you loose more hair in the fall….)
