Healthy options

Giving people advice on eating and sports is my passion – I am happy to answer questions and make suggestions any day. But sometimes I have to admit to wondering why I am doing it. Those days you see that you have shared all you know on good food, and then the person who asked turns round and makes choices that make you wonder if they listened to anything you said.

Eating healthily is not boring, does not have to be hard, and is certainly not about sacrificing great flavour. It’s just about making the right choices and being aware of what you put into that body of yours as fuel. Instead of going for a chocolate bar, get some yoghurt coated raisins or chocolate covered cherries. Great energy, not too bad in terms of calories and antioxidants (in cherries) that are actually good for you.  Or instead of a wrap with tons of mayo and cheese and who knows what else, go for a salad. You’ll eat it more slowly, and it’ll fill you up more then the wrap, plus it has plenty of nutrients. Just THINK about it for a minute before letting your hand grab that muffin, or opt for that fatty bite. Save those for real treats and then enjoy them consciously, not just as nosh whilst you are working or running around. If you only make a better choice 2/3rds of the time, you’ll see pounds disappear every time you step on your scales…without you adding any more exercise to your schedule. Worth the few seconds of thinking time, I’d say :-)
