Massage – Thai style

Massage is a wonderful tool to make sure your body recovers and restores from all the stresses you put it through every day. Over time, more and more wonderful massage types have reached the western world. I’ll try and cover the 14 types I know of over the next few weeks so I hope you’ll come back and/or add your own favourite massage therapists for each type!
First of all, Thai massage – one of my favourites. Involving a series of movements that you shouldn’t attempt at home, Thai massage is a wonderful way of easing tight muscles. Thai massage is usually performed with the happy recipient lying on a mat on the floor, dressed in comfy clothes. The therapist uses a combination of deep stroke techniques and stretches and uses his/her own body weight leaning with your limbs to relax your muscles, joints and tendons.
I can only tell you that it is wonderful. It allows you to stretch in ways you simply didn’t know you were capable of. And with a good therapist, you will feel absolutely safe and totally loose after the session.
